What can I do for you?

Translation

(Service offered for Latin American or European Spanish to US English texts.)

To render written text in another language, crafting a translation that is precise and comprehensive without being too literal. A great translation creates the same impact and experience for the reader, viewer, or gamer in the target language as in the source language.

I specialize in the translation of media and entertainment and low-register texts. I deliver natural and fluid texts tailored to your specific audience.

Editing

(Service offered for Latin American or European Spanish to US English.)

In the context of translation, this is an in-depth examination of a text in its source language and its translation in the target language, carried out by an editor who speaks both languages.

I will review your Spanish source text and its English translation, ensuring precision, flow, comprehensibility, and consistency.

Monolingual editing

(Service offered for English-language texts and translated texts.)

The in-depth examination of a text in a single language, carried out by an editor who might not speak the source language but will review the target text for terminology, grammar, syntax, register, and style for accuracy, consistency, and cultural appropriateness.

This is for when you’d like a native English speaker (me) to review an English text or an English translation from a language I don’t speak. Sometimes, the text was written or translated by a non-native English speaker. I will edit the text to flow naturally and read as if it was originally written in native and idiomatic US English.

Proofreading

(Service offered for English-language texts and translated texts.)

The final check that ensures a translated text is well-formatted, error-free, and ready for publication or delivery.

I will proofread your English text or translation to catch and correct any final errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and consistency.

Quality Assurance

(Service offered for translations from and into any language.)

Has your text already been edited and proofread? Do you need someone to check your text for formatting only? This pass-through is to make sure that headers, footers, bold, italics, Arabic numbers, font, and paragraph alignment are correct in your translations.

Perhaps you’ve had a document translated into 20 languages and need all of the translations to match the source format and be uniform. This may be a unique challenge due to the way languages shrink or expand in translation. I can get your translations ready for delivery!

Subtitling

(Service offered for Spanish and English of various dialects. Subtitle translation offered from Latin American or European Spanish to US English.)

No matter what type of video content you publish, you can be sure that a number of your viewers will seek to turn on and read subtitles for the video. Some subtitles are better than others, however: auto-generated subtitles, for example, may be inaccurate, with awkward line breaks and no consideration for shot changes, character limits, or reading speed.

I can add subtitles that will enhance the viewing experience of your video and/or translate your subtitles, with or without a timecode template.

Transcription

(Service offered for Spanish and English of various dialects. Transcript translation offered from Latin American or European Spanish to US English.)

To transform an audio or video file into a written text. Examples of this include interviews and podcasts for which a transcript will be made available for viewers.

I can transcribe your Spanish or English videos into the same language with speaker IDs and timecodes. I can also translate Spanish transcript into US English.

Project Management

(Service offered for translation/localization/linguistic projects.)

The discipline of organizing and managing resources and people to ensure that aproject is completed within defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints.

If you are an agency or Language Service Provider (LSP) seeking a project manager for your projects, I’d be pleased to assist you. I can do that by receiving incoming projects, handling client communication, making quotes, sending the work to linguists or agencies in your talent pool, and handling queries, project updates, project tracking, review, corrections, and delivery.

My process

Step 1

Initial Contact and Information

Contact me via email or one of the other methods listed in my Contact page. In your initial message, describe your needs: the subject of your document(s), word or page count, intended use, intended audience, and your desired deadline.

I will reply with my understanding of your project and next steps. I will confirm details with you regarding delivery file types and deadline. Any information you share with me will be kept fully confidential.

I will need to see your source file(s) to confirm the scope of the project, type of text, and word count. In the event that I am not qualified to handle a certain type of text, I can recommend a translator who is specialized in your sector. I work with all common file types (Word Document, PDF, PowerPoint, or Excel files). If your project involves an uncommon file type, reach out to me to ask about it.

Step 2

Quote

Once I’ve reviewed your materials and we’ve reached an understanding about the scope of your project, I’ll send you a quote that includes the price, delivery date, and payment terms.

Step 3

Project start

Once you’ve approved the quote and details, I’ll begin working on your project. For larger projects, I will provide progress updates at agreed intervals. If applicable, I will send a query sheet during this stage to clarify any doubts and make your project the best it can be.

Step 4

Delivery and Revisions

I will deliver your final files to you in the agreed format. If applicable, I will also deliver a version of the files with any notes, suggestions, or track changes, in the case of editing or proofreading.

One round of minor revisions is included free of charge within 5 business days of delivery. If your text goes through desktop publishing, I provide complimentary linguistic QA post-DTP to ensure your final version is error-free.

Step 5

Closure and Invoice

After delivery, I will issue an invoice. Payment methods include Wise, bank transfer in USD, or PayPal, with a payment term of 14-30 days.

If you have updates or follow-up projects, simply reach out by email. My long-term clients enjoy scheduling priority.
